Welcome to my blog, thanks for visiting! Please take a moment to say 'hi', your comments make my day!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger519125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2543338055318537705.post-39033401275009943172015-06-15T20:43:00.002+10:002021-04-28T21:57:24.721+10:00New Catalogue GoodnessHi everyone,
The new 2015-16 Annual Catalogue is now live and ready to order from, both in hardcopy book form and via my Demonstrator website Online Shop - just click the Shop Now button to the right hand side. If you would like your own copy of the catalogue to flick through (and add tape flags to build your inevitable wish list!), just contact me on I can send one to you anywhere in Australia for $5 including postage.

Here are some cards I made using a new Hostess Set, Floral Wings. It's a 2-step Stampin' set, and comes in photopolymer for easy layering. Very effective for quick cards. The design is a CASE of on of the lovely Alison Barclay's cards, I love her style! The greetings are from a new set called Cottage Greetings, and you can see that it has pretty much all the most common card-giving occasions covered. There is a card kit that co-ordinates with this kit, and I'm thinking of running a class on it - more details to follow.

If you have sharp eyes, you might see a new punch, Washi Label - it proved very useful to cover over a couple of tiny ink smudges thus saving the cards.

Today is a very special day! For TODAY only, Tuesday 2nd June, there is an overlap for three different catalogues. It's the LAST DAY to order from both the 2014/15 Catalogue and the Occasions Catalogue, and the FIRST day you can order from the new 2015/16 Catalogue. There's also new goodies on the Weekly Deals page and the ever-popular Clearance Rack!

So - you can check out the remaining goodies on the Retirement List and get new products as well! There are some items that are INCREASING in price in the new catalogue, INKPADS and REINKERS are one example. Old prices apply TODAY, from tomorrow the 2015/16 prices will apply.

There are also changes to the way Hostess Benefits are calculated, so if you have a big wishlist from any catalogue today, totalling $300 or more it's your last chance to receive at least $50 to spend in any of the three catalogues. From tomorrow, a sliding scale starting at 10% of order value kicks in.

The best way to take advantage of this serendipitous overlap is to use the convenient Online Ordering System - click this link to visit my online store: http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4000986

Stampin' Up have been busy moving things into new categories, but everything is searchable by name and item number, so if you can't find it browsing, it's still there to order.

If you're placing an order of less than $300, here is a Hostess Code for you to add to your order in the box provided during checkout
TNJUGZ3W
I'll draw a random name from the shoppers who use the code for a special prize...
If you're taking advantage of the last chance under the old Hostess Rewards system with an order of $300 or more, don't use the code.

Any questions? Give me a yell on 0403175790 and I'll help you sort out the best way for you.

Happy Hunting,
Party Time fun and some new Catalogues to browseHooley dooley! Between kids school stuff, Rural Fire Brigade stuff and an unexpected bonus of full-time teaching work for this term, I was well and truly ready for a weekend away stamping with friends!

I visited scenic Canberra for the Party Time Event on Saturday just gone, it was held at the luxurious Hyatt Hotel. I drove down with a couple of fellow demos and we had a great time!

We played with a few tools and techniques that I haven't worked with much on my own, so it was a nice opportunity to try something new.

One of the cards used Blendabilities, the new Stampin' Up! Alcohol ink markers. They work in a very similar way to the Copic markers you may be more familiar with, but with colour trios carefully matched to our cardstock and water-based ink colours. I now have the confidence to dig in and have a play with these amazing tools. They can be used for colouring images like the flower above, but did you know they can also be used to colour pearls, buttons, rhinestones etc to match your project? Amazing!

And, you might notice I have put up links and cover images to the current Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration catalogues (at long last, my bad!) - inside you can find new colours (in addition to the colours in the main catalogue) and there are a range of colours you can choose for FREE with any $90 spend in any catalogue.

Clicking the cover images to the catalogue will send you to my Mediafire account where you can download them. Or, give me a call or drop me a message and I can post out hard copies. Or, if you want to try the fabulous online shop, click the square 'shop now' button. Don't forget to check the Weekly Deals and Clearance Rack sections for some super bargains.

I have planned the first in a series of Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack
classes for the year, to be held on the evening of... VERY SOON!
It's a fantastic opportunity to get started on your stash of Christmas
cards for the year with much of the hard work done for you.

You'll make
12 special cards, 4 each in three different designs. Each of the
designs features elegant stamping and embossing, with lots of layers and
detail, the sneak peek above should give you an inkling. Everything is
provided for you - pre-cut cardstock, all materials and embellishments,
adhesive and beautiful Stampin' Up! envelopes to match.

The class will
be set up so you can construct the cards in an assembly-line format,
with full instructions to create more later if you wish.

The cost of
the class is $25 and places are limited to ensure individual attention.

Here are some <s>excuses</s> REASONS to place an order today...
1. Teacher Gifts - very important - Term 4 will fly by! I may be biased, but I think a good teacher deserves something with a bit of thought and effort put into it after a year of educating your children. Rotary Stamps? Card Kit? MDS Printables? Something relaxing to make over the break?
2. Christmas Card Supplies - start now and you will have time to make your own cards, with love and care to go along with your end-of-year salutations. Choose your colours, grab your cardstock and envelopes - maybe with a new stamp set to match?
3. Stocking treats - the Clearance Rack is a great place to start for Christmas sack bits and bobs - there are many versatile ideas hiding there just waiting to be turned into creative genius by kids of all ages - mini albums, customisable Simply Adorned jewellery and more.
4. Halloween - it's coming, and it's getting bigger every year! Make some cute tags with a punch and a Halloween themed stamp set, attach to a lollipop and you'll score some serious playground Brownie Points. Thinking of Halloween, the same applies for those end of year classmate treats. Heaps of ideas await on Pinterest.
After much deliberation, and attempts to juggle things about, I have decided that the only way to continue with a monthly craft day would be to move it from Saturdays to Sundays.

I am hoping that this doesn't preclude anyone from coming, and indeed I hoped it might make it easier for those who work some Saturdays. It will also make it easier for me to manage my Rural Fire Service commitments which are heating up with the weather.

Sunday 12th October

It's a match made in heaven - Stampin' Up's famous colour co-ordination, stamps and accessories and Becky Higgins' brilliant and simple memory keeping system.
All product lines are now available for purchase.
The range includes everything you need, from albums and divided pages to journaling pens, corner rounder punch, card sets and more. There's even a set of Framelits to create your own pocket inserts. I haven't scrapbooked in a traditional way for a few years now, (aside from the irresistable classes at escape2create). It takes too long, and my photos were piling up so much faster than I could manage. I ummed and ahh'ed about Project Life, liking the simplicity of the concept, but with such an investment in Stampin' Up products, I was reluctant to start something new. When the preorder came along for demonstrators, I thought I would give it a go. I managed to create some 14 pages in a day, and I am well on my way to taming those photos. It's so much nicer to have them in albums than stacked away in paper envelopes. You can keep it as simple as sliding photos in the pockets with a journaling card per page to track the details, or you can get creative with stamping, accents and embellishments. For digi-creators, there are even MDS versions of the cards and stamps It's flexible like that :-)

The video above gives an intro into the features and benefits, so contact me to order when you've decided which design you like best. Or, you can view and shop the range online - too easy!
I've dabbled very briefly with alcohol markers before, and have a few copics and kuretake markers, but because I didn't have 'enough' colours to blend with, it seemed more like standard colouring in! And the colours didn't match the patterned papers, cardstock and embellishments I wanted to use them with. So, like the forgotten scrapping photos, they have languished...
At the recent Inspire Create Share Convention in Melbourne, a set of three Blendabilities markers and the Blended Bloom stamp were given away to every attendee. I added Old Olive and Daffodil Delight marker trios to my Demonstrator Pre-order, and had a play. I forgot to get the magical 'Color Lifter' though, so made do with another brand. It gave a more 'rustic' look to the flower than I intended, or maybe it was the rusty applicator?? In any case, I simply built a rustic style card around it. . The colours are the new Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey, on a base of Naturals White. The leaves and butterflies are from a new set called "Kinda Eclectic", which I think will be a new favourite. As a finishing touch, I highlighted some leaves and stamens with Crystal Effects.
We are treated with lots of goodies from the upcoming catalogue, and while I can't show you that just yet, I can show you this card we made during one of the Make and Take sessions. It's using a new set called "Kinda Eclectic" and I think I'm in love - sort of grungy but elegant at the same time.
It also features some of the new In Colors, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, and Hello Honey
Let me know what you think :-)
*STAMPIN' CROP DAY CANCELLED FOR THIS SATURDAY 10th MAY*

My poor neglected blog, my poor neglected stamps! I'd love nothing more than to immerse myself in a bit of crafting this weekend, but there are a few factors that make it a bad idea :-(
Firstly, it's Mother's Day weekend and several regulars are unable to attend.
Secondly, with about 10 days before Convention, I have a mountain of school work to complete before I can escape, as I didn't realise that reports are due this week, next week, and the week I am at Convention. Too much stress!
Apologies for those inconvenienced, but I hope you'll understand.

I've had a dig through my photos to see if I can show you something I've made recently, thank goodness for events like bridal showers that force me to squeeze in some crafty therapy. This one was made using the Watercolour Wonder Designer Notecard set, and was a fast and easy way to create something nice. I used the "Pomp and Circumstance" set with a little masking to put the brain under the trencher cap.
NOW is a great time to do some crafty shopping with Stampin' Up! There is a lovely, luscious new Occasions Catalogue with all kinds of new goodies. And, to sweeten the deal even more, it is Sale-a-bration time as well! You can select from a range of products including stamp sets, punches, embossing folders, DSP, fun kits and more. Click on the Cover image at the right hand side, or download the PDF by clicking the SAB cover in this post to view. This year, you earn a free choice with each $90 spent on any current catalogue. It's also a great time to join me and my team, with extra value in the Starter Kit.

The photo in the middle of the post shows what can be made with one of the free products on offer, the Good As Gold card kit. Very quick, so easy, and a great gift - either assembled or left as a craft kit. Everybody needs Thank You cards, birthday cards etc, and this fits the bill in a most shiny, spotty way!

Was Christmas REALLY more than 6 weeks ago? I am sure I am not the only one who has found the new year to be rocketing by.
These are some photos of gifts I made for my children's classmates, and their teachers got some larger versions amongst their other goodies. I had seen some Cookie Cutter ornaments about, on Pinterest and my talented downline Clare McIlhatton's blog etc, and then I came across some lovely sets of German-made cutters at Aldi Supermarket, of all places! And at just $3.99 for a pack of 25, my mind instantly went into planning mode.

They are very simple to make, if a little fiddly and time consuming in places. The cost per ornament was very little, and I used up quite a few sparkly bits and bobs from my stash. The ornaments are glued onto sheets of retired Christmas Designer Series Papers, and cut out with a craft knife. I sanded back any scrappy bits, and inked the edges with a sponge. I used co-ordinating Washi Tape to wrap around the outside, making sure to have punched a hole for ribbon in the top with my Crop-a-dile first! I then used various bits of rhinestone, buttons, pearls, chipboard stars, and glimmer paper diecut "merry" from the Expressions Thinlits set. I packaged them up in cello bags with MDS designed card tags, and they were a big hit with the recipients. Hope you like them!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2543338055318537705.post-27050880574793971932013-12-09T22:56:00.001+11:002013-12-09T22:58:56.525+11:00Clearance Rack Blitz - new and improved with online ordering!

The
most nerve-racking and exciting promotion of last year returns, new and
improved! With online ordering, your order can be placed in real time,
reducing the chance of missing out on any items you want to grab.
Prices will be reduced by up to 80%, so jump on quick for best choice,
just in time for Christmas! There is no printed list this year, because items
can only be ordered online, so I can't give any clues about what might
be on sale. Last year was fantastic, with everything from stamps to
tools to DSP and accessories deeply discounted

How to shop online: Click the "Shop Now" at the top right on the blog, and
look at the left sidebar of the Online Store for a Clearance Rack menu, which should go live
at midnight tonight, AEDST. If you stay up (and from last year's
experience, plenty will!) and it isn't there, refresh your browser after
a few minutes to check in case the computers are running a touch late.
Add your products to your cart, and checkout in a very similar way to
other online shopping sites. You will be given the option to enter a
Hostess Code, and this is the current one for this week:
3BKCPX7J
Your order will be shipped directly to you, and the minimum postage is $5.95, or 5% of the order total, whichever is greater.

I would like to thank you all for your custom this year, and wish you
all a very happy and relaxing Christmas and holiday. Please stay safe
if you're on the roads, and I look forward to seeing you next year!
I started out with a theme of sorts in mind, using the "Howlstooth and Scaringbone" DSP, as his favourite colour has always been orange. The party was to be a "Mad Scientist" party, and it went from "Mum, no one will come!" to a hefty 24 kids. Gulp. Just as well I'm now a highschoool science teacher! In the end it turned out to be quite a bit of fun, for me and them. We did nine different activities in 3 jam-packed hours, and judging by the smiles on their faces and parental comments in the days afterwards, it was a big success!

I printed invitations three to an A4 page on glossy photo paper, using one of my favourite pics of Einstein.

I made personalised white cotton aprons, with name labels printed onto T-shirt transfer. I used a selection of labels and embellishments from the MDS program, and arranged them on an orange chevron background on A4 paper, to maximise the number I could print on each sheet of transfer. I made one template in MDS, and added names in Word so I could save successive versions (and reuse the original!). I also used more printouts of these tags for their goodie bags.

For the activities, I printed out instructions using a similar template, as the kids were going to be doing some of the activities themselves. The icecream turned out to be spectacular, using just reasonably readily available dry ice. The "recipe" was as follows - 600ml thickened cream, 500g carton custard, 1/4 cup milk, squirt of vanilla paste and 3 tablespoons icing mixture. Blend in a stand mixer, and add flavourings of choice. In a blender, crush about a cup worth of dry ice pellets into powder, and tip slowly into the stand mixer while it is running. Keep running until the fog is mostly gone, scraping down at least once, the bottom of the bowl will be the coldest part. Add more crushed dry ice if the consistency isn't firm enough, otherwise scoop into cones or store in a plastic tub and put in the freezer until you want it. On party day I made a batch of vanilla and a batch of cookies and cream using crushed Oreos. The next day I made subsequent batches using the left over dry ice with a tin of mango halves and a small tin of passionfruit pulp (seriously yum!), 2 tablespoons nutella spread and half a cup of choc chips (also yum), plain vanilla using vanilla bean paste and crushed oreos. The surprise was the fact that tiny bubbles of carbon dioxide trapped in the icecream give it a slightly fizzy taste.

Another activity the kids did was making sherbet, and I had prepared all the ingredients in labelled tubs. The funniest part was watching the faces of a couple of brave souls who dared to taste the tartaric and citric acid crystals, even after being told they would be sour. The very best learning by doing! It would also have highlighted the interesting chemical reaction between the sour and the sweet, and the bubbles from the acid and carbonate reaction. Not to mention the importance of following instructions ;-p

And finally, there were the thankyou cards, that I printed four to an A4 page. This one was a super quick production using a designer template from the Lemonade Stand MDS suite, and I switched out the pre-designed DSPs for the Howlstooth and Scaringbone patterns, I changed the sentiment, and voila!

I did have a post saved to drafts a while back, but it never quite made it out into blog land (maybe I'll finish it next just to confuse you all :-) ).

I've been quite busy doing all kinds of things, both stamping and non-stamping related. I am now a qualified Bushfire Fighter with the NSW Rural Fire Service, and have even had a few callouts to minor incidents. I have been teaching up a storm, working full time at a local school for the last 4 weeks of term, and there may be more work there for the upcoming term. Phew! But, I do enjoy being busy, and my papercraft is what keeps me sane!

There has been lots happening at Stampin' Up!, so grab a cuppa and we can catch up together. I plan on writing my newsletter tonight, so if you're not on my mailing list, visit my DBWS (link at top right) to sign up for it.
That should keep you busy for a bit, back later with more (if the pager doesn't go off!)
Our neighbours lost their lovely old doggy Stella recently, quite suddenly. She'd emigrated all the way from the UK with them, and had been around for the whole of the kid's lives as a beloved family pet. Stella was a sweet Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and loved having short walks and cuddles with her family, and was always so friendly when we visited so it was a big loss. I made this card to give them to show that we cared, using the MDS program. The Storybook embellishment doggie was quite similar to Stella (well, the nose wasn't quite right) and I used the alphabet embellishment to make the sentiments. The card front panel was printed, and then it was mounted onto some base layers in co-ordinating colours.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2543338055318537705.post-23558958386919234562013-08-19T21:56:00.001+10:002013-08-19T21:56:45.396+10:00Mosaic Madness Birthday

Here is a card I made for a special orange-loving friend using the new "Mosaic Madness" stamp set, matching folder and punch. I had made a few different colour and pattern combos, and was playing around with the layout when I discovered I could make a heart shape. Some of the tiles are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals, and the littlest stamps are placed directly onto the Whisper White of the embossed background. The greeting is from Itty Bitty Banners, and the colours are Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral. The versatility of this set is incredible, I can't wait to have more of a play!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
